Low doctoral pass rates have become a matter of concern for some time. Many students enroll in programs, but only a few finish within the allotted period. This tendency can be traced to the challenges that these students face when preparing their theses. Generally, the most difficult part is having the thesis acknowledged and validated by institutions because they are often not sufficient. The high expectations placed on candidates can be tough to meet, and they regularly cause delays in candidates’ accomplishments. Lindsay (2015), Lee et al. (2020), and Klocko et al. (2015) discussed this subject in their writings and examined some potential approaches and solutions to assist dissertation students in completing their work on schedule. Principally, they acknowledge that writing a thesis is a demanding task and a significant barrier to completing a doctorate program; they also stated that help from teachers and colleagues is required to assure the completion of these programs. They also aimed to determine how technology and interpersonal variables influence overall learning performance among doctorate students enrolled in online courses.

Writing a dissertation or thesis requires significant work. Each of the three stories is about a doctorate student who had to conduct research and write a thesis to finish their studies. Lee et al. (2020) looked at how well students learn but focused mostly on the attainment of Ph.D. degrees. According to the report, Ph.D. students who finish their studies tend to learn well. However, the report states that very few people finish their doctorate studies compared to those who finish other types of higher education. Several years from now, Lee et al. (2020) will look at the problem of doctorate dissertations in addition to theses and how these processes have made it very difficult for many people to obtain a Ph.D. Lindsay (2015) also examined factors that help most Ph.D. students finish their theses.

In the United States, online education has become increasingly prominent, including in Ph.D. programs (Lee et al., 2020). Online learning may be easier than classroom learning for some students, but it also presents many problems that may not have occurred previously when most students learned in traditional classrooms. According to Lee et al. (2020), it is hard to learn online because it has unique problems. They also mentioned that students still need to make connections to learn successfully, even though the methods of instruction have changed. For example, support from friends, family, and even classmates can help students with their academic self-regulation (Lee et al., 2020). Students still need encouragement, quick feedback, and a willingness to try new things through online discussions with

A synthesis is a written argument that incorporates evidence from several sources. It is a complex process that necessitates analyzing various sources and discovering common threads that connect them. Several Ph.D. candidates are interested in a certain subject and use their research time to make significant advances in their field. One of the best things about getting a Ph.D. is the opportunity to do good research. This article identifies and supports three concepts described by Lindsay (2015), Lee et al. (2020), and Klocko et al. (2015). Generally, synthesis accompanies analysis; a researcher breaks down a concept or idea into its important parts (analysis) from which to draw meaningful conclusions or make good decisions about the topic or problem at hand (synthesis).

Doctoral programs in the United States have experienced an increase in online education and teaching (Lee et al., 2020). Some students find the convenience of online learning appealing. However, online teaching also presents several new obstacles that were not relevant when students were confined to conventional classrooms. Lee et al. (2020) have stated that online learning has its own set of challenges. Despite the shift to online education, student learning expectations based on connections do not disappear. Student academic self-regulation improves when students get support from families, friends, and even classmates (Lee et al., 2020). Online dialogues with professors and peers may still provide students with encouragement, timely feedback, and a desire to experiment with new ideas.
This is a prevalent explanation for doctoral students’ inability to complete assignments on time and to a high standard (Klocko et al., 2015). According to Klocko et al. (2015), despite their status as doctoral candidates, the majority of participants need instruction and experience in research and scientific writing. To ease some of these challenges, faculty members could assist in defining writing standards and conducting particular student-professor meetings. Broad departmental agreement on writing goals and expectations may help address some barriers to student accomplishment.
According to Lindsay (2015), writing a thesis is one of the most challenging tasks for Ph.D. students, who may struggle to complete their studies on time if they encounter difficulties at this stage of the qualifying process. No single category encompasses all the issues that prevent Ph.D. students from completing their studies on time (Lindsay, 2015). However, it is possible to categorize these concerns into broad categories: supervisory, environmental, institutional, individual, and psychological. The motivation and organizational skills of doctorate students influence most of the thesis writing process.
