Scenario

You are a business development manager repor�ng to the vice president (VP) of business development at one of the largest life

sciences organiza�ons in the Midwest.

You are working with the strategic planning team to assess the current data to make recommenda�ons to its board of directors

regarding the organiza�on’s exit strategy. You have started crea�ng your plan for the organiza�onal change and selected members

for the guiding coali�on. Your next task is to help determine the value of the organiza�on’s assets to the poten�al acquirer.

One of the core strengths of the organiza�on lies in the value of its talent. Poten�al buyers in this industry want to know that the

organiza�on that they acquire is going to be able retain their valuable employees. So, the VP has asked you to analyze the human

resource data in order to determine what the organiza�on is worth. This includes taking a close look at the organiza�on’s human

resources, analyzing the a�ri�on data, and making predic�ons about employee stability in case of an acquisi�on.

The organiza�on has been collec�ng informa�on about its employees since its incep�on in 1999; this informa�on has been

organized in a spreadsheet. In order to understand recent trends in your organiza�on’s workforce, you will analyze this employee

data. Your analysis will look at employee a�ri�on and reten�on and will be included in your report. This will provide a clear picture

of your organiza�on’s workforce to help an�cipate its perceived value with poten�al buyers.

First, use the employee a�ri�on data to create visuals in Tableau that capture the trends and possible reasons for reten�on and

a�ri�on in the organiza�on from the course scenario. Then, write a report about the current state of human resources and a�ri�on.
